Youth Orchestra Audition Requirements

 

 BRASS

 

Prepare the following audition material to the best of your ability:

 

 

SCALES

 

Perform three chromatically adjacent scales.

 

Please play scales with a full beautiful tone: Quarter note = 88.

 

 

SOLO

 

Prepare and perform any solo of your choice. A well prepared audition will include a solo that features both lyrical and technical aspects.

 

 

SIGHT READING

 

Students will be asked to sight read a composition that is appropriate for the Youth Orchestra. The student will be given 1 minute to look over a short excerpt and then asked to play it to the best of their ability.
