Youth Orchestra Audition Requirements

 

 

PERCUSSION

 

Prepare the following audition material to the best of your ability:

 

 

 

SCALES

 

Perform three chromatically adjacent scales on any keyboard instrument.

 

Please play scales with a full beautiful tone: Quarter note = 120.

 

 

 

SOLO

 

Prepare and perform a solo OR excerpt on all of the following instruments:

·        Snare Drum

·        Timpani

·        Any Keyboard Instrument

 

 

SIGHT READING

 

Students will be asked to sight read two compositions that are appropriate for the Youth Orchestra. One will be on a snare drum, and the other on Timpani. The student will be given 1 minute to look over each short excerpt and then asked to play it to the best of their ability.
