Join the orchestra.

Auditions for the upcoming season take place in August. Review the requirements, then register online. Summer String Camp requires no audition.

Register for String or Symphonic Orchestra placement. After registering, you will receive audition details for your instrument.

Every June

Summer String Camp

Open to 50+ area students with no audition required. Coaches from across Georgia mentor campers all week, finishing with a concert. Campers may join the next season without auditioning.

Register for Camp

Auditions will be held August 21 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM and August 22 from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

Registrants will receive notification of their audition time slot by email by August 19, 2026.

Symphonic Orchestra

  • Players of any age should compete at or near the all-state high-school level.
  • Scales (beautiful tone, quarter note = 88): Violin three octaves G/A/Bb/C; Viola & Cello three octaves C/D/Eb/F; Bass two octaves; choose any two.
  • Woodwinds & Brass: two scales of your choice, one lyrical and one All-State style.
  • Percussion: three chromatically adjacent scales on a keyboard instrument.
  • Solo: prepare any solo of your choice with both lyrical and technical passages. Percussion prepares a solo or excerpt on snare, timpani, and a keyboard instrument.

String Orchestra

  • Players should have at least one year of school orchestra or private lessons.
  • Scales (beautiful tone, quarter note = 88): Violin, Viola & Cello two octaves C/D/F/G/A; Bass one octave; choose any two.
  • Solo: prepare any solo of your choice with both lyrical and technical passages. The Suzuki series is an excellent resource.
